The staff of Buckingham have gone above and beyond, supporting our family member through a challenging time and treating our whole family, like family, bringing all of us comfort and a peaceful state of mind. They demonstrate skill, patience, respect, consistency, compassionate understanding, and spiritual generosity. 🙏

My mother moved into Buckingham seven months ago. The care she has received at Buckingham has increased her health and well being, and helped her adjust to life outside of her home of 50 years. In addition, the month she moved in also was the month her husband of 63 years passed away. The care and concern they shared through her grieving, and continued support of her has made a huge difference to her and her family. Some areas that amaze me, the focus on activities for the residents. The engagement of the residents together as a community and family. I also am impressed that the management of Buckingham conducts a regular community meeting to understand resident request and requirements. Thank you to you all!

My mother lived at Buckingham South for five years and my father for two (they both passed while living there). From the time my parents moved in they felt like Buckingham was their home. During their years there, they formed great friendships, had active social lives, and truly enjoyed the daily activities. As a family, we always felt confident they were being well cared for. Rita and her staff are some of the most wonderful and kind people I have met. In my mother’s last year, her hallway caregiver, Mel, was practically a family member. Rita, her family, and the entire staff there have created an environment where my parents found happiness, comfort, and peace. We will always be grateful for Buckingham South.

I moved my mother down from WV in 2018 after her cognitive status declined and she could no longer live independently. We first had her at Rivers Edge Independent living with a sitter during the days. She began wondering at night so we moved her to the Oaks on Skidaway. She was at Rivers Edge for 2.5 years and only the Oaks for 3 miserable months. We could not sleep thinking she would be neglected there another day. In November of 2020 we moved mother to Buckingham South after touring almost every assisted living in Savannah. I am an Oncology Nurse Practitioner and my husband is a physician so we are not naive to care issues. From the first time I met Rita Slatus and her family, I knew mother was in good hands. She has been treated well by everyone from housekeeping to meal service to activities. They truly get to know patients as individuals in a way that a corporate run facility can not. We are very secure in our decision to have mother here because I come at all hours and often find staff chatting with my mom and spending that extra time with her that makes all the difference. Our 93-year-old mother was devastated when her doctor said she needed to move to an assisted living facility. Finding a place Mom liked was difficult and she was extremely depressed, anxious and didn’t smile for weeks. But as soon as Mom walked through the front doors of Buckingham South and met Rita, the owner, and Ruby, the therapy dog, her face lit up with a huge smile. Buckingham South is a premier assisted living facility where the staff understands the needs of their residents. Rita, Sabrina, and the rest of the staff made certain mother’s transition to assisted living was welcoming and seamless. Mom feels loved and is once again vibrant and happy. She smiles, enjoys meeting new people, attending the activities and raves about the delicious meals in the Dining Room. The staff knows where she is at all times and checks on her regularly making certain she safe and happy. They notify her of the upcoming activities and ensures she doesn’t miss a meal. Mom loves Buckingham South and now realizes how isolated she was living in her house. She calls Buckingham South her new “home”.

My family moved my uncle down from NY in the beginning of Covid in 2020. We were so very lucky to find out about Buckingham South and to learn that there was an available room. Thomas received excellent care from the nurses and caregivers, and Rita does an amazing job coordinating the whole facility. Thomas was always treated well and we are so glad that he was able to stay at Buckingham through all of his stages, even hospice at the end. I would recommend Buckingham South to all friends and family. Thanks to everyone there for taking such good care of Thomas!

My husband was a resident at Buckingham South for a short time and had several health issues. When he arrived he immediately felt like part of the family there. Others have said this, and it's true: Buckingham South has the feeling of home. Every detail of care is addressed and handled with warmth which comes from sincere concern. My parents have been at Buckingham for a year and I continue to be impressed with their genuine and caring staff. They are extremely responsive and truly care about the residents. Buckingham is locally owned and they take pride in providing quality services. Thank you Rita and staff!

I have worked at Buckingham South for over two years and I must say that this is a wonderful place to work. The entire staff here are the most loving and devoted people I have ever worked with. Rita's attention to every possible detail and her caring and loving approach she exhibits for each and every resident is a beautiful thing to behold. The staff go above and beyond for the residents. It is truly a pleasure to be a part of.

A lovely caring and loving environment for those who need assisted living at any stage. As our father progressed from independent living through his final days, he was treated with kindness and understanding. The family at Buckingham South guided us though the processes and bureaucracy as Dad became more ill and needed higher levels of care. Those at Buckingham who work with the residents are truly kind and provide the highest level of professionalism, IMO. Because Buckingham is a smaller, more intimate facility than other independent and assisted living facility, there is a true feeling of family. Activities abound, fascinating and intelligent residents for making friends and making a community for Dad, and privacy, quite and peace when residents want that. I cannot recommend Buckingham South strongly enough as a place that ensures residents are truly taken care of at all stages of living.

I have lived ay Buckingham South for a year and and a half and since I came here I have been treated like a family member, The love and compassion the family has shown me cannot explained in words only what I have seen from the love and favors I have received from all the family to make sure I am well taken care of. When I walk down the hall and I see Sean or Steve and mention I need a favor in less time that I can explain what it is it is already done THEY ARE MY HEROES Whenever I see Rita it never fails that I get a Great Big Hug' I love all the Residents here and I love all the caregivers that go that extra mile to assure me that I am well cared for. Looks can be deceiving! This is the best senior living place around! We brought Mom to Savannah because of the pricing compared to around Atlanta. Unfortunately we had her in another facility until we found Buckingham. What a difference this place is! They are so compassionate, the staff are ALL great! Always activities going on, the food is great, the staff knows everybody's name! All residents are intigated, no locking someone in a memory care unit! We couldn't have been happier 🙂 we love y'all at Buckingham!

My wife and I just left Buckingham South after visiting my 93 year-old mother for the weekend. She’s been at this facility since 2012 and quite frankly I don’t know where else we could’ve gone to get better attention and service. This professional upscale facility goes above and beyond as far as we can tell for every resident. Every time we come to visit mom tells me how great the food is in the dining room, what great care the nurses give on her floor and how much she appreciates the housekeeping department that comes in and takes care of everything just like she likes. It makes us so happy to see her happy. And we believe that’s mostly due to the staff and the services that she’s offered. I highly recommend Buckingham South to anyone for their loved ones.

I want to say how impressed I was with Buckingham South & especially Ms RITA who is an Angel. She really has a wonderful gift to care for the residents. My mom was only there for a short while but the experience we had was made memorable because of Ms RITA. I can say that Ms RITA works long hours night & day. She was always there smiling & she always knew everyones name & what was going on. It’s a very well run family business with long caring hours. You can tell they really care about all the residents. My mom passed away peacefully, holding my hand at Buckingham on my birthday 9/12/21. Mom was put on Hospice after leaving hospital & I never left her side and Ms RITA was so very understanding to allow me to be there constantly with my mom. It meant so much to have those days & moments just holding my mom’s hand, talking about things, listening to music, praying together. Saying I LOVE YOU more times than I can count. My momma was a fighter, but she grew tired at age 77 with CHF. & being in n out of 12 hospitals in just one year. But then With COVID 19 restrictions & Lockdowns I was so afraid mom would pass away ALONE. Like so many loved ones did in hospitals😭 since COVID. The last time in hospital hospice was called in. That was something I don’t think I was prepared for…. Anyways, I witnessed my mom see her Angel waiting to take her to the other side….. my moms mom (who passed 14 yrs ago) it was peaceful when the Lord took mom home and my faith is reassured that one day I will see mom & my granny again!🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻 I want to THANK YOU MS RITA for your compassion, kindness, warm heart & beautiful words you shared with me the night ( my birthday) my momma passed. I will cherish those words & the moments as long as I live. Kaye Bufalini

My mom is celebrating almost 10 years at Buckingham South. Thank you and the staff for making Buckingham South such a wonderful place for our Mom. The people that we encounter at different times of the day or night are always respectful, generous, and sincere. Their care on the 3rd Floor is very much appreciated. In fact, everywhere we go we see how people treat our mom with respect, personal care, and humor. I, too, am always greeted with smiles and a welcome back whenever we come to visit. Buckingham always feels like home to me.

My MOM has been a resident for many years. The facility is clean and smells great,unlike other facilities. The staff is friendly and efficient. Buckingham South is the only facility that I would put my loved one for the best care possible!
