My sister, Mary, resided at Buckingham South for almost two years. When admitted, she was suffering from early dementia and terminal skin cancer. She passed away shortly after her 90th birthday. From day one, she received excellent care from the entire Slatus family and staff. It's seldom, if ever, to find an assisted living facility with such individual treatment and concern. We couldn’t have asked for a better home for my father-in-law. Rita and her staff are wonderful. They treat their residents like family, and serve with excellence. Several staff members have been there for over 20 years—that is almost unheard of in this industry, and says a lot about how well this facility is run. Can’t say enough nice things! Thank you, Rita and staff, from a very grateful family.

My mom chose Buckingham South because she knew quite a few residents at that time and they highly recommended them. I'm glad she did because she got high quality care and I had peace of mind with me being out of state. Rita and the staff met her needs and took care of her like she was family. I was always informed and received regular updates on her well being. The great thing about the care is it is adjusted to your needs from being self sufficient all the way to end of life. Thanks Rita for loving her well and making moms last 6 years over her life a pleasure.

There are a lot of things to really love about Buckingham South. The residents are kind to one another. New residents can bring beloved pets with them to Buckingham South which really helps with the transition for them. The apartments are large with more closet space and nice kitchenettes and my mother's sunny apartment was decorated beautifully with her art work and beautiful furniture. The most important things to know about Buckingham South is that Rita Slatus is always available to you and cares deeply about the residents and their families. She told me that residents are never sent off to nursing homes and that they can age at Buckingham South for the rest of their lives. No traumatic leaving their home at Buckingham South. This is absolutely fundamentally important to residents and families. My mother had several health issues and she needed extra care and Rita worked with me until she introduced me to caregivers through Buckingham South that my family adored and took excellent care of my mother. These caregivers became family and friends. The med techs there are extremely caring and wonderful people. This is a family run business and everyone is dedicated to their work with the residents. My mother loved being social with residents and enjoyed daily activities. As my mother's health declined, RIta was so supportive and her exceptional kindness will always be remembered.

My brother was recently accepted at Buckingham south with level 5 care. In the two months he’s been there, he’s received the best care imaginable. Rita has fostered an environment of loving care and commitment to all the residents. The activities are amazing and fun Which enhance the overall positive atmosphere for all of the residents. My brother is not a very social person, but they have brought him out in ways. I never imagined Buckingham South is truly the Cadillac of assisted living

I appreciate Rita and her staff very much. My mil Is very happy there. My only concern is lack of generators to keep power on. No ac or lights is scary for residents. Wish something could be done. In all other areas Buckingham South is 5 stars.

My mom moved in October 2022 and loved it at Buckingham South. The facility is clean and there are so many activities for the residents. I am so glad I found such a great place for her. All the staff were very attentive to her. Thanks Rita and Buckingham South for taking such good care of my mom.

My mom moved here August 2023 and she loves it. Her care is excellent and she enjoys the activities and the food. The staff is wonderful and caring. This is a wonderful place for mom and I’m glad she is here.

My family made a big leap when we moved my mother down to Savannah ahead of our move here and settled her into Buckingham South. We knew we would still be four hours away from mom until we were able to make our full move to the area. After being her sole caregivers for almost a decade, we knew we had to chose the facility wisely and feel confident they would provide mom with the personal attention and consideration. for her as an individual she needed. Buckingham South exceeded our expectations. Family is everything at Buckingham South and it's not an exaggeration when they say they treat your family like their family. I always felt like I could reach someone to talk about mom and they would know her personally. I always felt that the staff was super familiar with my mother. Her needs, her personality, her fears, likes and dislikes. I felt communicated with, listened to, and that we were always working together to best serve my mother's needs. My mother was a tough cookie, she was someone who was reluctant to trust and had many fears as she aged and became more frail. The staff at Buckingham South was able to reach my mom and make her smile, get her to participate in art classes, make friends and trust people. We lost my mother recently and I know with my whole heart that we placed her in the perfect place for the final year of her life. She was loved there. I am grateful that her final days were spent with the family at Buckingham South.

We were very fortunate to have my parents as residents of Buckingham South. They received high-quality care with compassion at all times. Rita and her staff's expertise helped my parents and family immensely.

I was at Buckingham for two weeks respite care and cannot say enough about the welcome I received from Rita and her family. The ongoing care from all the staff was wonderful. I was nervous initially as I am severely disabled from strokes and this was my first assisted living experience but all my fears were laid to rest by the care I received. I am writing this review of Buckingham South after their recent care of my wife who died October 4. Buckingham South provided an extraordinary care experience that was beyond what our family would have ever expected. I have a 40-year history as an owner/operator in the home care and assisted living industry, so I can write with some authority about the commitment and the dedication of Rita Slatus, her family and the staff to give the best care possible. My family and I tried to care for my wife Laura Lynn at home for many months before bringing her to Buckingham South. With all of our experience, we believed that home was the best place for her. As her condition worsened, we realized that we were not able to give her the full care she needed. Within a few days of Laura Lynn moving to Buckingham, it was evident to all of us that her care was nearly perfectly coordinated and managed. I wish that we had moved her there sooner. The love and care she received from the staff exceeded all expectation. Our family visited my wife often at Buckingham, and we saw that the other residents were also happy to be there. Of all of the facilities I have seen, none compares to the Buckingham experience, and I will always in the future refer Rita, her daughter Sabrina and Buckingham South to any person who needs care for themselves or a family member. Savannah is lucky to have Buckingham South. I wish every community in Georgia could have a Buckingham…..Martin Miller

Once my mother in law knew her health was on the decline she did a ton of research to figure out where she wanted to spend her days in hospice. When it was time to move into Buckingham South they welcomed her, made her feel comfortable, adjusted her room to her liking and did what they could to make her comfortable for the final month of her life. She couldn't take advantage of the activities or community due to her condition, but they brought her food, stopped in the room, helped her with her basic needs and medications. Things got more difficult as she progressed but the staff was very familiar with the challenges of this phase of life. Though it was so hard for me to experience, their ease and confidence helped keep me calm. When the time came for her to pass they sat by her side and held her hand. Rita and her team were exactly what my mother in law needed and I am so grateful for the care and love they shared with her during this hard transition. While there, my mother in law kept saying she has a "golden cloud" shining down on her and she couldn't be more please with her choice to be at Buckingham. Isn't that wonderful? I am so glad. Thank you Buckingham South.

My mother was at Buckingham for very close to 6 years. She died recently at 100 years of age. She readily admitted that if she had not been at Buckingham she would have died 5 years earlier. The people at Buckingham are very caring and were attentive to all my mother’s needs. Mom enjoyed the friendly staff and the other residents. Mom was very social, and Buckingham provided her a busy and stimulating environment. Buckingham was also very welcoming to Mom’s 2 cats.
